Artist Statement
I paint to capture the fleeting beauty of nature—both the delicate, short-lived bloom of flowers and the timeless presence of mountains. My work leans toward realism, but rather than striving for photographic precision, I focus on light, color, and form to evoke the essence of a moment.
Some paintings are precise, capturing the exact play of light on a petal or the weight of a shadow on a mountainside. Others are more expressive, with visible brushwork that adds movement and energy while still holding onto the integrity of the subject.
My paintings vary in scale, from small, intimate studies to larger works that immerse the viewer in a landscape. Some areas are finely detailed, while others remain loose, reflecting how certain details in memory stand out while others fade.
At its core, my work is about preserving beauty—holding onto moments that would otherwise slip away. A flower that wilts too soon or the brief glow of light on a mountain peak can be captured in paint, allowing us to revisit and experience it long after it’s gone.
